At first glance, Nikita is blunt, devoted, tough, confident, and able to think outside the box. She's very accomplished, professional, and sees things as black and white which can cause her to become blinded to other perspectives. Nikita never gives up on the job and she can definitely be described as a workaholic and overachiever. She thinks quickly about how to settle or neutralize a situation and it may not be straight by the book which it usually isn't. Nikita is stubborn and rebellious with a sassy mouth to match and a temper that's unparalleled.
But for those who truly know Nikita, they know just how hurt and wounded she is on the inside. She suffers from low self-esteem and self-worth which she hides behind her success and tries to keep a straight face through it all but her facade will sometimes slip away to reveal the true, sensitive woman underneath. Because of her childhood and upbringing, Nikita will often feel like an outcast which she hides behind her confident rebellion. Past: Nikita was born to a rich and affluent African-American family, being the third of five kids. Her father was the CEO of a large corporation which allowed her mother to be a high-class housewife despite being well-educated. They were Christians and heavily involved in the black community, having a rather high reputation to uphold. James often worked long hours and wasn't home as much as he should've been, leaving most of the child-rearing to Brandi.
Nikita was a huge tomboy growing up much to the chagrin of her mother who was traditional and old-fashioned, wanting her to be more feminine and her constant criticism and berating of her would cause her to have low self-esteem and self-worth. When she met Dimitri Kwan at age 10 who would become her best friend and began spending more and more time with him, her mother were even more irritated because he was Chinese-American. As Nikita grew older, her mother's controlling and overbearing ways began to take its toll on her and she began to withdraw and allow her to manipulate and control her. Her older sister Joyce didn't make matters any better since she was clearly the golden child and was spoiled and mean beyond reproach.
But thanks to Dimitri and her other siblings, Nikita slowly began to rebel again despite her wavering confidence and when she graduated from high school, she went off to college and decided to major in Criminal Justice with the goal of becoming a cop when she graduated. All throughout Nikita's college career, she began to transform into her true self and had changed to the point where her mother's control and manipulation wasn't working on her as much as it had previously and she was starting to stand up to Joyce as well.
After graduating with her Bachelor's, Nikita immediately applied to become an officer in the LAPD and her mother was not pleased with her actions because she thought that being a cop was a man's job and it was unbecoming of a woman to not be married and start a family of her own. But Nikita defied her and put her main focus into her newfound career, gaining a lot of respect for her skills and work ethic and it wasn't long before she became a sergeant.
Now Nikita is enjoying her career in the LAPD but still has to deal with toxicity and vitrol from her mother, her sister Joyce, and the community she grew up in which can take its toll on her at times.

Dimitri is often considered the life of the party wherever he goes. People just instantly calm down around him and get good vibes when in his presence. Dimitri is pretty charming and can bullshit his way out of practically anything. He definitely acts like a bad boy and gives no fucks about what others think of him. He has a rebellious, mean streak and isn't afraid to put people in their place if need be. Dimitri can be a bit of a brute and if pushed far enough, he'll definitely go nuclear revenge on whoever wronged him or his loved ones. He has a lot of friends and enjoys being around people who are different, unique, or even strange. Dimitri is a non-conformist and prefers to be original and eccentric, not liking to act and think in the way that other people do.
Dimitri does not give up easily and if he wants something or someone, he'll fight tooth and nail until he has it/them. He's super loyal and doesn't believe in letting go of people unless they do something especially heinous or toxic. Even if Dimitri gets angry at someone he loves or cares about, he'll eventually come back to them but not before speaking his mind. He's also not above being petty either if the conflict goes on for longer than he anticipated.

Past: Dimitri was born to an upper middle-class family and was two minutes older than his twin sister Diana. He also had a younger brother and sister who were also twins. Dimitri's parents were business owners, his mother owning a restaurant named Marshall China and his father owning a dojo named Marshall Academy. They were quite popular in the community because of their charitable endeavors and how much their businesses contributed to the people.
Dimitri's childhood was quite fun and eventful because of how popular his parents' businesses were and as a result, he was well-liked in the neighborhood and had many friends. From the age of 4, Dimitri began studying wushu under his father's tutelage and by the time he was 8, he had been considered a prodigy because of how skilled he was. He was also learning how to cook per his mother's request. When Dimitri was 10, he met Nikita Valentine and was instantly enamored with her. Despite receiving flack from some of the black kids for his interest in her, he began to pursue Nikita and it wasn't long before they were attached at the hip, spending much time together and learning about each other's cultures and lifestyles.
When Dimitri was 15, he had encountered one of his classmates whose family was homeless and starving on the streets. Not willing to let anyone starve, Dimitri immediately ushered them into his mom's restaurant which was closed at the time and made meals for them, paying for it as well. His act of generosity quickly made its way around town and his parents set up a fundraising event for the family, raising over half a million for them in just a week.
The wholesome story led to Dimitri deciding to pursue culinary arts as his main career path and when he graduated from high school, he decided to go to university to major in Culinary Arts. During his time in college, Dimitri was quite wild when he wasn't in class and he had become one of the bad boys on campus as a result. But he was also quite popular in his major and he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's in Culinary Arts.
As many expected, Dimitri began working full-time in his mother's restaurant as a chef but he had to work his way to the top which was just fine with him. After 3 long, harsh years, Dimitri was finally promoted to Executive Chef which was his main goal.
Now Dimitri is enjoying his culinary arts career and is very happy and content with his life but he still feels as if something is missing which he has yet to figure out what that something is.
