Life Story: Born into a prestigious town in China, Kaname is the daughter of a samurai and a nurse and has a twin brother named Michiru. From the time she began to walk, she became interested in being a warrior instead of being ladylike much to her mother's chagrin. Although her father initially didn't want her to battle and fight, he gave in to Kaname's persistence when she was 10 and began to train her, not going easy on her one bit.
8 years later, a man by the name of Heishiro Mitsurugi came across her town, participating in a tournament that was happening. Wanting to challenge him, she quickly entered the tournament despite her father's warnings. Kaname defeated every opponent she fought against with relative ease until she fought the man that she wanted to fight the most. Needless to say, Kaname lost horribly. In complete awe that she was defeated so easily, she confronted him after the tournament and asked him to train her.
Mitsurugi refused and left the town but Kaname refused to let things go and quickly left to go traveling and follow the man that had sparked her interest like no other opponent ever did.

Personality: Kaname is a warrior at heart. She enjoys the thrill of fighting and loves a good challenge. She's honorable and although she doesn't like to kill, she will do it if she deems it necessary. Kaname believes that a true warrior never rests and is always training to better herself, her biggest goal being to protect people she loves. She isn't very feminine due to her lifestyle and is very comfortable with it, not caring who opposes it.
A very passionate person, Kaname expresses her emotions pretty easily but at the same time, it scares her because she doesn't want to appear vulnerable. To compensate for this, she puts up a tough front, even being a bit unapproachable at times. She tends to be obnoxious, stubborn, and rebellious.
