Personality
Beth's most prominent traits are her intelligence and ambition. She's quite studious and she loves power, unafraid to reach for the stars and go after her dreams no matter what obstacles stand in her way. Beth is bold and demanding, having no tolerance for bullshit or toxicity. Crossing her or angering her is not wise unless the person in question wants to be subjected to severe physical and/or verbal retaliation. Beth lives for revenge and her stubbornness and strong will can cause her pettiness and vindictiveness to get the better of her and she often has to be reprimanded or restrained by whomever is present. She's very outspoken, proud, and isn't afraid to become argumentative when challenged or questioned. Beth likes to have the last word or final say in anything she's involved in which backfires on her more often than not.
Due to her demanding nature, it's no shock that Beth has very high standards not only for others but for herself as well. She has an "all or nothing" mentality and can be quite harsh on people when they make mistakes or do things that she disagrees with. This stems from Beth not wanting to be hurt or betrayed in any way and not wanting to show any kind of weakness. Past: Beth was born in Chicago, Illinois to Duane and Nancy Smith, three minutes before her twin sister Belle was born. Her younger brother Wyatt was born 3 years later.
Beth's childhood was peaceful and privileged thanks to her parents and she had a home life that most people only dreamed of. The Smiths lived down the street from the Choi family and Beth was attached at the hip with the oldest child Ethan. This, combined with her interests and how she carried herself, caused the other black kids to ostracize her and even bully her. But Beth refused to let them keep her down and when the bullying turned physical and began to target Ethan, she fought back and got revenge on them to the point of ruining their family's lives.
Beth and Ethan's friendship continued and only got stronger thanks to her newfound reputation of someone that wasn't to be messed with and as she transitioned from middle school to high school and began to date, she lost her virginity at age 16 to a boy named Dante Princeton who was good friends with Ethan. Because of Dante being Caucasian, their relationship caused some derision and ridicule but they defied it and continued dating regardless.
At age 17, Beth joined the United States Marine Corps with her MOS being 5811: Military Police. The surprise decision caused Dante to propose to Beth after they graduated high school and before she went to boot camp.
Beth graduated from boot camp with high marks and she married Dante after completing her advanced training. Beth decided to go to college to major in Criminal Justice as well after being persuaded by her higher-ups to do so. Balancing college, military life, and her marriage made life wild and hectic for Beth and throughout the years, she gave birth to twin daughters Zafina and Zuri and a son Zane. After graduating from college with her Bachelor's, Beth renewed her contract and began training to become an officer. But it came at a cost.
Beth discovered that Dante was having an affair with another woman and despite his pleading and begging her to stay, she was infuriated and divorced him, sharing custody of the children due to her military career. Beth remained in the Marines for many years and eventually retired with the rank of Major, returning home to Chicago, settling down with her kids, and deciding to join the Chicago Police Department. She also reunited with Ethan with whom she had on and off contact with during her time in the military and keeps in contact with him frequently.
