Jade is a strong and bold person, never afraid to do what she wants when she wants. She's a daredevil and tomboy who's always up for getting her hands dirty or hanging with the guys. She has a rather tough demeanor and doesn't take shit from anybody regardless of who they are and won't hesitate to resort to fisticuffs or foul words if she thinks someone is out of line. Jade is also strong mentally and refuses to give up or change plans, being quite stubborn. But she's not afraid to apologize or admit when she's wrong although it may take some convincing. She values friends and family very highly and once someone gets close to her, she becomes very loyal and protective of them. Past: Jade was born to a 14 year old Claudia and a 16 year old Percy. Claudia was kicked out of her parent's home when she found out she was pregnant and moved in with Percy's family. 

However they broke up due to their constant fighting and conflict, their relationship being solely co-parenting. When Claudia turned 18 and got her high school diploma, she decided to move out and get her own place, taking Jade with her since Percy had went off to college to become a lawyer.

But things turned bad from there. Unable to find a job and stressed out with raising a child on her own, Claudia resorted to drugs, prostitution, and partying to escape, often neglecting Jade at times. As a result, Jade grew up in a neglectful and sometimes dangerous environment, mostly raising herself and teaching herself various things to survive.

When Percy came home for Christmas break, he found out about Claudia moving out with Jade and went to visit her, only to find Jade home alone by herself. After hearing about Claudia's behavior and neglecting of Jade, Percy moved in with them and took on the responsibilities of raising Jade and going to college while Claudia continued her dangerous behavior which Percy tried to help her with but to no avail. This led to constant fights and arguments between them but Percy refused to leave no matter how bad things got.

When Jade was 11, Claudia was a victim of a bad pileup on the Hernando DeSoto Bridge, driving on the way back from a huge party. Her injuries were devastating but she managed to survive and made a full recovery within six months. During this time, Claudia decided to turn over a new leaf, stopped her party girl lifestyle, and began to try to rebuild her relationship with Jade and Percy, eventually marrying him and becoming his wife.

Now a law school graduate, Percy decided to work for a prestigious law firm in Los Angeles which lead to the family moving to California and settling down in a nice neighborhood. The Valentines moved next door to the Changs and the families became fast friends. Jade struck a lifelong friendship with their son Jin which soon turned to romance when she was 15 and he was 16. They've been dating ever since but still have yet to be intimate.

Jin is very calm and generally keeps to himself, his patience seeming infinite. He's understanding towards others and is respectful as long as respect is given back to him. He's a bit introverted and doesn't particularly care for most large events such as parties but will attend if he's dragged to one (usually by Jade) and ends up having fun in the end. Jin is open-minded and accepting of others, not one for judging unless the person does something he considers heinous. A lot of people tend to think Jin is easy to walk over due to his quiet and introverted nature but he is far from it. He doesn't tolerate disrespect towards people he holds dear and he will get violent if provoked enough. Past: Jin was born to two Chinese people. His parents met while his mother was a Marine and stationed in China. Gus pursued Trinity for months until she finally relented and went out on a date with him which led to them becoming lovers. But their relationship wasn't without problems. Trinity's family disowned her due to her not wanting to get married to someone they arranged for her and she was discharged from the Marines after being badly injured and diagnosed with PTSD. This led to Trinity becoming homeless and living in Los Angeles while Gus was in China.

During this time, Trinity found out she was pregnant with Jin after getting into a huge fight with her father and she managed to contact Gus who moved to the U.S. to be with her and their child. The couple managed to get a place of their own and Trinity gave birth to Jin. Gus proposed to Trinity which lead to them getting married. Due to his skills in martial arts and Trinity's affinity for cooking, the duo decided to go into business together, opening up a dojo and a restaurant called Marshall China.

Their business quickly became popular and well-known in LA and Jin was exposed to the culinary arts as well as martial arts throughout his childhood, quickly becoming talented in both areas. When Jin was 13, the Valentines moved next door to his family and he became friends with Jade Valentine. During this time, he began to date various girls which lead to him losing his virginity at 16.

Jin eventually began to show an interest in Jade which lead to them becoming a couple six months later. However they have yet to be intimate due to Jade having reservations about sex.
