Celeste is an alpha female who's dominant, aggressive, confident, and independent. She's very ambitious and always goes after what she wants, never hesitating to speak her mind. Riley is a very easygoing, friendly boy. Drifting from place to place and person to person, he's at home in chaotic circumstances. Riley is quite rebellious, preferring to be left alone to his own devices rather than taking orders from someone else. But secretly he enjoys being dominated especially by women.

There's something about him that makes him seem a little lost. It tends to set off maternal instincts (no doubt this is one of the things people find appealing about him). This isn't entirely a wrong impression. Unlike most teenagers, who affect a kind of above-it-all coolness, Riley really has seen a lot and really is rather jaded. On the other hand, he has moments of childishness, such as literally jumping for joy if you buy him food. He can also be remarkably lazy about things he isn't passionate about.
