Personality: Bernie is confident, strong-willed, and tough as well as passionate. She's not afraid to express her emotions and will gladly say the first thing that comes to her mind (having no filter) which gets her in trouble more often than not. She's not afraid of confrontation or conflict and believes in facing issues head-on right then and there instead of letting them fester and get worse. Bernie is a rebel at heart and isn't afraid to question anything or anyone, thinking that change is necessary in life. No one tells her what to do or how to act unless they wanna get hurt. Freedom is the most important thing to Bernie and she will not allow anyone to take it away from her.

Bernie can be very aloof and have a "no fucks given" attitude in certain situations which can be aggravating for those around her. Past: Bernie's early life was lonely and filled with tension due to being a military brat and moving around frequently. Her parents constantly fighting and arguing didn't make things any better. Her biological father Albert was a controlling, narcissistic tyrant who resented her mother Kimberly for making more money than him and being an officer. Eventually Albert became physically abusive towards Kimberly and fistfights between them were very common with Kimberly often coming out on top thanks to having more advanced training.

 

Things came to a head when Kimberly and Albert got into an argument while they were driving through Chicago in the dead of winter with Bernie and her sisters in tow. Albert pulled over on the highway and dragged Kimberly and the kids out of the car, leaving them out in the freezing cold. After wandering the streets for 2 hours, the girls were rescued by a man named Hiroki Kimura and he took them in for the night, taking care of them and nursing them back to health.

The next day, Hiroki took them home and gave his number to Kimberly in case she or the kids ever needed anything. Kimberly hatched a diabolical plan to get back at Albert and called up some of her fellow friends in the Navy. When Albert came home hours later, he was jumped and badly beaten by Kimberly and her friends as well as kicked out of the house. Kimberly immediately filed for divorce and had all the evidence to take Albert to the cleaners. But Albert wasn't going down without a fight.

Kimberly and Hiroki sparked up a friendship which lead to them dating once her divorce was finalized and Kimberly got all marital assets including a large settlement and full custody of the girls. This made Albert furious especially since Hiroki was Japanese and the girls were starting to warm up to him to the point where they considered Hiroki their real dad.

Albert had a large arsenal of weapons thanks to being a Marine and while Kimberly and Hiroki were out on a date to a fancy restaurant on a military base, he stalked them and as the couple was leaving the restaurant, Albert confronted them and opened fire, shooting Hiroki in the chest but missing Kimberly who immediately fought for her life and managed to take one of Albert's guns, shooting him many times. Thankfully Hiroki managed to survive and he proposed to Kimberly on Christmas Eve of the same year.

Albert was arrested and charged under the UCMJ, stripped of everything and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years. This brought much joy to Bernie and her new family and when she was 15, Kimberly decided to retire from the military after 23 years of service. Much to everyone's shock, Kimberly also discovered that she was pregnant shortly after her honeymoon with Hiroki. She gave birth to a son named Keith and for the first time in Bernie's life, she finally had a home filled with love and laughter. 

Thanks to her mother, Bernie showed an interest in music and because of how well they worked together in that field, they decided to become a duo and called themselves Grace and Mercy. The mother-daughter duo became well-known on the internet and it wasn't long before record labels took notice of them. But the one that stood out the most was Gaia Records which was the one Bernie and Kimberly chose.

The entire family had to move to Tokyo, Japan and at this time, Bernie was dating a man named Jeffery Harrington who moved to Tokyo with them. Bernie and Kimberly's music career took off without a hitch and they became well-known names in Japan as well as America. Bernie married Jeffery on her 18th birthday and 2 years later, she had a son that she named Jeffery Jr. Life was going splendidly but 5 years later, everything changed.

Kimberly was diagnosed with breast cancer which forced Grace and Mercy to disband and Bernie had to go solo which hurt her deeply. To make matters worse, Jeffery came out as gay and although they tried to keep things going for their son's sake, Bernie decided that it was best for them to divorce but she and Jeffrey vowed to always remain friends.

Now Bernie has a successful solo career and is raising her son to be the best man that he can be alongside her ex-husband while going on various adventures and making many new friends along the way.
