~~Personality~~

Because of her past, Maria isn't very trusting of people and is very distant towards those she doesn't know very well. She makes her thoughts and opinions known to the point of being blunt which just adds to the mystery and distance. Maria doesn't believe in being nice to people she doesn't like and isn't fake. She's very ambitious, focused on her goals, and refuses to give up regardless of the obstacles that come her way. Maria is strict and demanding of others sometimes to the point of being unforgiving. If someone crosses or hurts her, it's impossible for them to get back in her good graces. She doesn't believe in second chances.

Once Maria gets close to someone, she'll open up more to them and shows kindness and loyalty. She's reliable, responsible, and practical, being a big sister of sorts amongst her friends. Maria's deposition is normally calm, mellow, and somewhat cynical as well as easygoing. She usually stays out of other people's affairs but isn't afraid to take matters into her own hands, often using brute force. She's a caretaker at heart, is very protective of her patients, family, and friends, and will do whatever it takes to make sure they're happy and safe.

Previously, Maria seemed to embody rebellion, drug abuse, and amoralism as well as having a nonchalant, sarcastic, mellow attitude. But after losing the love of her life and having her daughter, Maria matured physically and emotionally compared to the drugged-out, apathetic, hedonistic girl she used to be. She has become much more sensible and takes her duties very seriously. Maria expresses her feelings very strongly and has no problem with demeaning other people, especially if she doesn't like them.

• Dancing - Maria used to be a stripper and she really enjoyed it, still pole dancing in her spare time.
• Children - Being a mother, it's expected of Maria to like children and she enjoys being around them.

• Dueling - Maria has been dueling since childhood and it's her #1 hobby, doing it whenever she has a chance and collecting cards.

• Responsible - Maria is very responsible and cautious with her life and she knows what she wants. She doesn't believe in taking risks often and it's considered rare for her to do so.
• Ambitious - Once Maria has a goal, she never gives up no matter what and is very focused on them. 
• Protective - Maria will protect her friends and especially her daughter with her life. She is unafraid to stand up for others and incurring her wrath because of it isn't advised.

Worst Qualities:

• Stubborn - Maria doesn't believe in second chances and changing her mind is nearly impossible. Finding things out the hard way is a common occurrence for her sadly.
• Demanding - Maria demands excellence from those she loves or considers important. This is due to her trust issues and not wanting to be hurt again as well as being a slight perfectionist.
• Blunt - Maria doesn't mince words and is candid to a fault which can be rather off-putting to those who don't know her very well. She doesn't sugarcoat anything for anyone and doesn't care for reactions to it.

Mannerisms: Towards strangers, acquaintances, and enemies, Maria speaks and acts with what many people would call "swag". She carries herself with a calm toughness and her body language and mannerism often scream "silent but deadly". Towards her friends, she becomes more open, kind, and affectionate to the point of appearing like a cuddly teddy bear.

• Lack Of Tact - This is Maria's biggest weakness and she shoots herself in the foot with it far too often. This can make her seem like a heartless, rude, and condescending bitch which can make her many enemies.

• Anti-Cure: This is Maria's main deck and it revolves around reversing Life Point gain into damage, potentially OTKing or FTKing her opponent if she's lucky enough. Because of this, her deck is seen as quite powerful but not on the same level as Yugi or Kaiba just yet. Her trademark cards in this deck are Bad Reaction To Simochi and Darklord Nurse Reficule. Maria received this deck from her parents when she was 8 and has been refining it since, changing it to fit the current meta and such.
• Cure-Burn: Maria's alternative deck, it revolves around using the monster Fire Princess along with Life Point gaining cards to deal constant effect damage. Compared to her other deck, this one is seen as slightly annoying by people but still respected. Her other trademark cards in the deck are Cure Mermaid, Dark Room Of Nightmare, and Solemn Wishes.

Although her flaws can definitely make her seem unapproachable, bitchy, and full of wrath in both her professional and personal life, once someone gets close to Maria, they're rewarded with the utmost love and care a person can give. But her old reputation combined with her delinquent, immoral, and drug-clouded past has given others reason to not like her and slander her name around at times.

Bio/Backstory: When Maria was 8, her parents were murdered during a carjacking. She and her older sister Yvette were handed over to their aunt Shavon who was twice divorced with three sons, suffered from borderline personality disorder and PTSD, and was very volatile but loving towards all the kids. Over the years, Maria's cousins went down a dark path which lead to Travis going to prison, Richard being kicked out of the house due to his drug use, and Teshawn murdered by a local gang.

When Yvette turned 18, Shavon kicked her and 16 year old Maria out after a big argument, causing the two to move in with Yvette's boyfriend Floyd.

At first, things were finally going well for once in Maria's life but six months later, Floyd began to make sexual advances towards her which soon escalated to rape. The incidents continued to happen until Yvette walked in on them. Taking Floyd's side over Maria's, Yvette kicked her out. To make matters worse, Shavon sided with Yvette as well, meaning Maria had no place to stay and was homeless.

After wandering the streets for a while, Maria was approached by a man named William Black and was taken in by him. He became her sugar daddy and she soon found herself working in his strip club as well as hanging out around the wrong crowd. Black didn't like Maria stripping and suggested that she go to college instead which she followed since she always wanted to be a nurse practitioner. But Maria still continued to hang out around her drug dealer, prostitute, and stripper friends, often partying and using drugs but nothing too serious.

Things between them went well for a year before Black began to abuse Maria physically and became controlling over her. It only increased after Maria became romantically involved with another woman named Veronica Hawkins who worked for Seto Kaiba. Maria eventually managed to escape Black and ran away to one of his security guards with whom Veronica was staying with off and on.

But Black tracked her down which led to a shootout between him and Veronica, the result being their deaths. Maria later discovered she was pregnant and decided to continue her schooling as well as stopping her partying and drug use, giving birth to a baby girl that she named after Veronica. Now she's a registered nurse working on her Master's Degree to fulfill her ultimate goal.
